Egyforma esélyek a selejtezőben
🇭🇺 Szerdán elkezdődnek az Euroliga selejtező párharcai a 2023-2024-es kiírásban. Csapatunk, a Sepsi-SIC a lett TTT Riga ellen küzd meg. A főtáblára jutásért harcol meg a DVTK Miskolc, a London Lions csapatával, valamint a lengyel Polkowice, a török Besiktasal.
Ellenfelünk, a TTT Riga ikonikus csapatnak számít az Euroliga történelmében, mivel 18 Euroliga bajnoki címmel rendelkeznek. Azonban az elmúlt években nem a régi fényükben tündökölnek a lettek. Az előző idényben nem indultak egyik európai sorozatban sem, ebben a szezonban szeretnének visszatérni az Euroligába.
Csapatuk nagyrészt lett játékosokból tevődik össze, Ieva Pulvere egyikük, aki hat éve a Riga játékosa, azonba két év kihagyás után tér vissza a pályára. Két amerikai idegenlégiósuk van, Dekeiya Cohen és Kyra Lambert. Cohen a 2022-2023-as idényben is a lett csapat színeiben szerepelt, a másik amerikai, Lambert az idei érkezők egyike, az előző szezonban a francia bajnokságban szereplő Toulouse Metropole Basket töltötte. Gabija Meskonyte a 182 cm magas litván játékos, Spanyolországból teszi át a székhelyét a lett fővárosba, hogy a selejtezőben és a lett bajnokságan is segítse a csapatot. Edzőjük Martins Gulbis lett szakember, aki 2020 óta irányítja a csapatot.
A selejtezőt megelőzően csapatunk vezetőedzője, kapitánya és a kosárlabda szakosztály vezetője osztotta meg a sajtó képviselőivel a véleményüket.
Zoran Mikes vezetőedző a tavalyi szezon értékelésével és a román játékosok távozásáról is ejtett pár szót a sajtótájékoztatón, valamint az esélyüket és a csapat szintjéről is beszélt: “Először is szeretném elmondani, hogy az előző szezonban hatalmas dolgot vittünk véghez, veretlenül nyertük meg a bajnokságot, és nem vagyok megelégedve, mert nem egy megérdemelt győzelmi ceremóniában volt részünk. Ezt azonban eddig nem tudtam elmondani senkinek, de ez az előző szezon, a jelennel foglalkozunk. Minden támogatásra szükségünk lesz idén, a szurkolóktól, a sajtó képviselőitől, mivel vannak olyanok, akik megakarnak minket fosztani a “tróntól” bármi áron. Az előző 10 évben bebizonyítottuk mire vagyunk képesek, mindenki azt hiszi a pénznek köszönhetjük a sikert, de ez nem igaz, senki se tiszteli a kemény munkát, amit beletettünk. Talán ezért is van a román kosárlabda ezen a szinten, mivel senki sem akar dolgozni, és a csapatunkhoz se akarnak jönni, mert itt keményen kell dolgozni. A másik dolog, amiről elmondanám a véleményem, az a játékosok távozása. Személy szerint nekem rosszul esett, hogy azok a játékosok, akik több évig itt játszódtak nem szóltak, hogy távoznak a csapattól, de a közösségi médiában megosztják a hírt és azoknak, akik éjjel nappal velük voltak, akár a mélypontjaikkor, nem mondanak semmit, de számomra ez már a múlt, új csapatunk van, akik itt szeretnének játszani és küzdeni a klubbért. A fiatal játékosok, akik itt akarnak lenni napról napra fejlődnek, és 2-3 hónapon belül látszani fog a fejlődésük is. A külföldiek, akik itt maradtak vagy akik ide igazoltak őket is támogatni fogjuk és közösen fogunk dolgozni a céljaink eléréséért. Az első véleményem szerint az új csapatunk rendben van, energetikusan, jól dolgoznak, néhányan ismerik egymást ez segíti az én munkámat is. Jobban készen állunk az idei selejtezőre, mint a tavaly, igaz 7 nappal kevesebb felkészülési idő jutott, de jó munkát végeztünk. Nagyon hasonló a csapatunk a lettekéhez, energikusak, sokat szaladnak és vannak olyan karakterisztikáik, mint nekünk. Szoros mérkőzéseket fogunk játszani, azonban a szezon elején nehéz bármit is mondani. Az elején nem vagy azon a szinten, ezért is nehéz már szeptemberben selejtezőt játszani. Viszont nem csak nekünk nehéz, hanem a többi csapatnak is. Úgy érzem viszont, hogy a lányok nagyon motiváltak és mindenki készen áll, hogy a maximumot nyújtsa a pályán, én bízom a játékosaimban és hogy beleadnak mindent mindkét mérkőzésen. Remélem a szurkolók nagy számban kilátogatnak a mérkőzésre, mert szükségünk van a rájuk és a támogatásukra.
Bethy Mununga, a csapat frissen kinevezett kapitánya is megosztotta gondolatait a selejtező előtt: “Tudjuk, hogy egy kemény mérkőzés vár ránk szerdán, de nagyon izgatottak vagyunk. Előző évben is megvolt a lehetőség, hogy főtáblára kerüljünk, de elveszítettük az Olympiacos elleni mérkőzést. Én úgy érzem most készen állunk, jobban, mint az előző évben. Keményen dolgozunk, hogy hogyan védjük és hogyan játszódjunk a TTT Riga játékosai ellen. A magasságbeli különbség lehet hátrány, de akár előny is számunkra. A saját játékunkat tudjuk kontrolálni, jó játékosaink vannak, 50 – 50 százalék esélye van mindkettőnknek. Dolgozunk tovább és készen fogunk állni a szerdai mérkőzésre, és következőre is.”
“Nagy lépés előtt áll a csapatunk, szerintem jó esélyünk van a továbbjutásra ezzel a csapattal, amit a nyáron építettünk fel. Azonban van sérülsé is, Chelsea Nelson kisebb sérüléssel bajlódik, ezért nem játszhat a TTT Riga ellen. De ennek ellenére a csapat jó formában van, ezt a négy felkészülési mérkőzés is bizonyítja. A felkészülés során elemeztük is az ellenfelünket, segédedzőnk, Samoila Zoltán remek munkát végzett, jól felkészítette a lányokat az ellenfél játékosaiból. A mérkőzésre várunk minden szurkolót, legyünk minél nagyobb számban!” – mondta el Pásztori István a sajtótájékoztatón.

🇷🇴 Sanse egale în calificări
Miercuri încep meciurile de calificare pentru Euroliga în sezonul 2023-2024. Echipa noastră, Sepsi-SIC, va concura împotriva echipei letone TTT Riga. Pentru a avansa în faza principală, DVTK Miskolc se va lupta cu echipa London Lions, în timp ce echipa poloneză Polkowice se va confrunta cu echipa turcă Besiktas.
Adversarul nostru, echipa TTT Riga, este considerată o echipă iconică în istoria Euroligii, având18 titluri de campioană Euroliga. Cu toate acestea, în ultimii ani, nu au strălucit la fel de intens ca în trecut. În sezonul precedent, nu au participat în niciunul dintre turneele europene, iar în acest sezon își doresc să revină în Euroligă.
Echipa TTT Riga este în mare parte formată din jucători letoni, printre care se numără și Ieva Pulvere, care a jucat pentru Riga timp de șase ani, dar revine pe teren după o pauză de doi ani. Au două jucătoare străine din Statele Unite, Dekeiya Cohen și Kyra Lambert. Cohen a jucat și în sezonul 2022-2023 pentru echipa letonă, în timp ce Lambert este una dintre noile achiziții ale acestui sezon, având experiența jocului în campionatul francez, unde a jucat pentru echipa Toulouse Metropole Basket. Gabija Meskonyte, jucătoarea lituaniană înaltă de 182 cm, și-a mutat baza din Spania, în capitala letonă pentru a ajuta echipa în meciurile de calificare și în campionatul leton. Antrenorul lor este specialistul Martin Gulbis, care conduce echipa din 2020.
Înainte de calificări, antrenorul principal al echipei noastre, căpitanul și conducătorul secţiei de baschet au împărtășit opiniile lor cu reprezentanții presei.
Zoran Mikes, antrenorul principal, a vorbit despre evaluarea sezonului trecut și despre plecarea jucătorilor români în cadrul conferinței de presă. De asemenea, a discutat despre șansele echipei și nivelul acesteia: “În primul rând, aș dori să menționez că în sezonul trecut am realizat ceva impresionant, câștigând campionatul fără nicio înfrângere, însă nu sunt mulțumit pentru că nu am avut parte de o ceremonie de victorie cu adevărat meritată. Până acum nu am putut împărtăși acest lucru cu nimeni, dar acesta este sezonul trecut, ne concentrăm asupra prezentului. Avem nevoie de orice sprijin anul acesta, fie din partea suporterilor, fie din partea reprezentanților presei, deoarece există cei care vor să ne “detroneze” cu orice preț. În ultimii 10 ani, am demonstrat ce suntem în stare să realizăm. Mulți cred că succesul se datorează banilor, însă nu este adevărat. Nimeni nu apreciază munca grea pe care am depus-o. Poate de aceea baschetul românesc se află la acest nivel, pentru că nimeni nu vrea să muncească, iar jucătorii nu vor să se alăture echipei noastre pentru că aici trebuie să muncești din greu. Cealaltă chestiune despre care aș vrea să îmi exprim părerea este plecarea jucătorilor. Personal, m-a întristat faptul că jucătorii care au jucat aici timp de mai mulți ani nu au spus nimic înainte să plece de la echipă. În schimb, au împărtășit știrea pe rețelele de socializare, în timp ce, cei care au fost cu ei, chiar și zi și noapte, chiar și în momentele mai dificile, nu au aflat nimic. Dar pentru mine asta e deja trecut. Acum avem o echipă nouă, care vrea să joace aici și să lupte pentru club. Tinerii jucători care vor să fie aici se dezvoltă în mod constant și în 2-3 luni se va vedea progresul lor.
Străinii care au rămas aici sau care au venit aici, îi vom susține și vom lucra împreună pentru a atinge obiectivele noastre.Prima mea impresie este că noua noastră echipă este în regulă, plină de energie, lucrează bine, iar faptul că unii se cunosc deja ajută și munca mea.Suntem mai bine pregătiți pentru calificări anul acesta decât anul trecut, chiar dacă am avut cu 7 zile mai puțin pentru pregătire. Totuși, am făcut o treabă bună. Echipa noastră este foarte asemănătoare cu cea letonă, sunt plini de energie, aleargă mult și au caracteristici similare cu ale noastre. Vom juca meciuri strânse, însă la începutul sezonului este dificil să faci previziuni. La început, nu ești la nivelul optim, motiv pentru care este greu să joci calificări deja în septembrie. Cu toate acestea, nu doar nouă ne este dificil, ci și celorlalte echipe.
Însă simt că fetele sunt foarte motivate și toată lumea este pregătită să dea totul pe teren. Am încredere în jucătoarele mele că vor pune totul în ambele meciuri. Sper că suporterii vor veni în număr mare la meci, pentru că avem nevoie de ei și de susținerea lor.
Bethy Mununga, proaspăt numită căpitană a echipei, și-a împărtășit gândurile înaintea calificărilor:
“Știm că ne așteaptă un meci dificil miercuri, dar suntem foarte entuziasmați. Anul trecut, am avut o șansă să ajungem în faza următoare, dar am pierdut meciul împotriva echipei Olympiacos. Acum simt că suntem mai pregătiți decât anul trecut. Lucrăm din greu pentru a stabili cum să ne apărăm și cum să jucăm împotriva jucătoarelor de la TTT Riga.
Diferența de înălțime poate fi o piedică, dar poate deveni și un avantaj pentru noi. Suntem capabili să controlăm jocul nostru, avem jucătoare talentate, fiecare avem o șansă de 50-50%. Continuăm să muncim și vom fi pregătite pentru meciul de miercuri și pentru cel viitor.”
Echipa noastră se află în fața unui pas important, cred că avem șanse bune de a avansa cu acest lot pe care l-am construit în vara aceasta. Cu toate acestea, avem și o accidentare; Chelsea Nelson se confruntă cu o accidentare minoră și nu va putea juca împotriva echipei TTT Riga. 🇬🇧 Equal chances in the qualifiers.
On Wednesday, the EuroLeague qualification matches for the 2023-2024 season will begin. Our team, Sepsi-SIC, will compete against Latvia’s TTT Riga. DVTK Miskolc will battle against London Lions for a spot in the main tournament, while the Polish team Polkowice will face off against the Turkish team Besiktas for the same opportunity.
Our opponent, TTT Riga, is considered an iconic team in the history of the EuroLeague, as they hold 18 EuroLeague championship titles. However, in recent years, the Latvians have not shone as brightly as they used to. They did not participate in any European series in the previous season, and this season, they aim to make a comeback in the EuroLeague.
Their team is largely composed of Latvian players, including Ieva Pulvere, who has been with Riga for six years but is making a comeback to the court after two-year. They also have two American foreign players, Dekeiya Cohen and Kyra Lambert. Cohen played for the Latvian team in the 2022-2023 season, while Lambert, the other American, is a newcomer this year, having previously played for Toulouse Metropole Basket in the French league last season. Head coach Zoran Mikes discussed the evaluation of the previous season and also touched upon the departure of Romanian players during the press conference. He also spoke about their chances and the team’s level. “First of all, I would like to say that in the previous season, we achieved something tremendous. We won the championship undefeated, and I’m not satisfied, because we didn’t have a deserved victory ceremony.However, I couldn’t share this with anyone until now, but we are focused on the current season. We will need all the support this year, from the fans, the press representatives, because there are those who want to strip us of the “throne” at any cost. In the past 10 years, we have proven what we are capable of. Everyone thinks that our success is thanks to money, but this is not true. Nobody respects the hard work we’ve put in. Perhaps this is why Romanian basketball is at this level, because nobody wants to work, and they don’t want to come to our team because hard work is required here. Another thing I’d like to express my opinion on is the departure of players. Personally, it hurt me that those players who have been with us for several years didn’t communicate their departure from the team directly, but instead shared the news on social media. They didn’t say anything to those who were with them day and night, even at their lowest points. But for me, this is now in the past. We have a new team who want to play here and fight for the club. The young players who want to be here are developing day by day, and within 2-3 months, you will see their progress. We will support the foreigners who have stayed or who have been brought here, and we will work together to achieve our goals.In my first opinion, our new team is in good shape. They work energetically and well, and some of them already know each other, which helps my work too. We are better prepared for this year’s qualifiers than last year, even though we had 7 days less of preparation time. But we did a good job. Our team is very similar to the Latvians – they are energetic, run a lot, and have characteristics similar to ours.
We will play close matches, but it’s difficult to say anything definitive at the beginning of the season. At the start, you’re not at your peak level, which is why playing qualifiers in September is challenging. However, it’s not just difficult for us, but for the other teams as well. I feel, though, that the girls are very motivated and everyone is ready to give their maximum on the court. I trust my players to give their all in both matches. I hope that the fans turn out in large numbers for the game because we need them and their support.”
Bethy Mununga, the team’s newly appointed captain, also shared her thoughts before the qualifiers:
“We know that a tough match awaits us on Wednesday, but we are very excited. We had the opportunity to make it to the main tournament last year, but we lost the match against Olympiacos. I feel that this time we are more prepared than last year. We’re working hard on how to defend and play against TTT Riga’s players. The height difference could be a disadvantage, but it could also be an advantage for us. We can control our own game, we have good players, and it’s a 50-50 chance for both teams. We’ll keep working and we’ll be ready for the match on Wednesday, as well as for the next one.”
“Our team is on the verge of a big step forward. I believe we have a good chance of advancing with the team we’ve built over the summer.However, we also have an injury concern. Chelsea Nelson is dealing with a minor injury, which is why she won’t be able to play against TTT Riga. But despite this, the team is in good form, as demonstrated by the four preparation matches.We also analyzed our opponent during the preparation, and our assistant coach, Zoltán Samoila, did an excellent job in preparing the girls for the opponent’s players. We look forward to welcoming every fan to the match; let’s be there in great numbers!” – Pásztori István stated at the press conference.
