Elbúcsúztunk az idei Európa-kupától / Ne-am despărțit de această ediție a EuroCup / We have said goodbye to this year’s EuroCup
A 2024–2025-ös idény az Európa Kupa sorozatban lezárult csapatunk számára. Európa második legrangosabb kupasorozatának 23. kiírásában a zöld-fehér mezesek a C-csoportban szerepeltek. A négyfős csoportban a szerb Crvena Zvezda, a spanyol IDK Euskotren és a görög Proteas Voulas AEO csapataival küzdöttek meg kosárlabdázóink.
A sorozat alapszakaszát a görög Proteas Voulas AEO ellen kezdtük, idegenben. A mérkőzést hosszabbítást követően 6 ponttal veszítették el. Ezt követően hazai pályán botlott csapatunk a spanyolok ellen, majd a harmadik fordulóban a szerb Crvena Zvezda ellen is alulmaradtak, kétszeres hosszabbítást követően. Az első és egyetlen győzelmet hazai pályán aratták a lányok a görög ellenfelük felett. A csoport utolsó két mérkőzésén hiába küzdöttek, nem sikerült győzelmet szerezniük. A C-csoportban így a harmadik helyen zártak kosárlabdázóink, egy győzelemmel és öt vereséggel.
Az idei teljesítményt a csapatkapitányunk, Gereben Lívia értékelte: „Bár a nyert mérkőzéseink száma nem tükrözi, nagyon közel voltunk a továbbjutáshoz, hiszen két hosszabbításos mérkőzést is játszottunk, az egyiket ráadásul dupla hosszabbításban veszítettük el. Összességében nagyon büszke vagyok a csapatra, ugyanis senki ellen nem adtuk könnyen a bőrünket. Szerintem ennél több is lehetett volna ebben az Európa Kupa-szezonban, de így is nagyon örülök, mert rengeteget tanultunk. A szezon nem ért véget, és remélem, hogy az Európa Kupában szerzett tapasztalatot kamatoztatni tudjuk a jövőben. Megyünk tovább előre, hiszen vannak céljaink a Román Kupában és a bajnokságban is.”
Carla Popescu is megosztotta a tapasztalásait és beszélt a szezonbeli célokról is: „Ez egy olyan tapasztalat volt számomra és a csapat számára is, amely mindenképpen segített bennünket, fiatal játékosként és fiatal csapatként egyaránt. Ilyen versenysorozatban részt venni, mint az Európa Kupa egy valódi kiváltság. Csapatunknak a nemzetközi versenyeken is kiválóan teljesített, hiszen minden alkalommal figyelemre méltó eredményeket értek el. Bár idén nem jutottunk tovább a csoportból, és nem sikerült bejutnunk a rájátszásba, biztos vagyok benne, hogy rengeteget tanultunk. Most a hazai versenyekre kell összpontosítanunk, ahol vár ránk a Román Kupa és a bajnokság. Egyértelmű, hogy nagy elvárásaink vannak, és a lehető legjobb eredményeket szeretnénk elérni, hogy a csapatot visszavezessük oda, ahová való, vagyis az élre.”
Vezetőedzőnk, Zoran Mikes is megosztotta a gondolatait: „A csoportkör elején volt néhány lehetőségünk arra, hogy továbbjutást szerezzünk, de két idegenbeli mérkőzést hosszabbításban elveszítettünk, ami jelentősen csökkentette az esélyeinket. Kicsit későn kezdtük meg a felkészülést, és idén fiatalabb, kevésbé tapasztalt csapatunk van. Az Európa Kupa kezdete kihívást jelentett számunkra, és időbe telt, mire rájöttünk, hogy már az elejétől keményebben kellett volna játszanunk. Különösen nehéz volt, mert az Európa Kupa hamarabb kezdődött, mint a román bajnokság, így nem voltak hivatalos mérkőzéseink, amelyek segíthettek volna a felkészülésben. Mindössze két barátságos meccset játszottunk egy rövid felkészülési időszak alatt, és a közös játék hiánya megmutatkozott ezeken a korai mérkőzéseken. Összességében az volt a célunk, hogy mindenki számára erős ellenfél legyünk, és esélyt teremtsünk a továbbjutásra. Úgy gondolom, büszkén játszottunk, és kemény ellenfelek voltunk minden csapat számára. Természetesen voltak olyan pillanatok, amikor jobban is játszhattunk volna; a mérkőzések során akadtak hullámvölgyeink, de sokat tanultunk ebből a versenysorozatból. A csapatnak nagyon fontos, hogy a vereségek után is egységesek maradjunk, tanuljunk a hibáinkból, és támogassuk egymást csapatként. Ha valóban tanultunk ebből akkor biztos vagyok benne, hogy a szezon hátralévő részében jobbak leszünk. A maximumot nyújtottuk, és büszke vagyok a lányokra, valamint az egész csapatra.”
Az európai kaland után a csapat figyelme a hazai kihívásokra irányul. A hétvégén, november 30-án és december 1-jén a Román Kupában az Alexandria együttesével mérkőznek meg a Final 4-ba jutásért.
Sezonul 2024–2025 al EuroCup Women s-a încheiat pentru echipa noastră. În cea de-a 23-a ediție a celei de-a doua competiții ca prestigiu din Europa, echipa noastră, în echipament verde și alb, a evoluat în Grupa C, unde a întâlnit adversari puternici: Crvena Zvezda din Serbia, IDK Euskotren din Spania și Proteas Voulas AEO din Grecia.
Am debutat în competiție cu un meci în deplasare împotriva echipei grecești Proteas Voulas AEO. În ciuda unui efort remarcabil, am pierdut la o diferență de șase puncte după prelungiri. Ulterior, echipa noastră a suferit o înfrângere acasă împotriva formației spaniole IDK Euskotren, iar în etapa a treia, am fost învinși de Crvena Zvezda din Serbia, după un meci dramatic, decis în dublă prelungire.
Prima și singura noastră victorie a fost obținută pe teren propriu împotriva echipei din Grecia. Deși am luptat cu determinare în ultimele două meciuri ale fazei grupelor, nu am reușit să obținem alte victorii. În final, ne-am clasat pe locul al treilea în Grupa C, cu o victorie și cinci înfrângeri.
Performanța din acest sezon a fost analizată de căpitanul echipei, Lívia Gereben: „Deși numărul victoriilor nu reflectă acest lucru, am fost foarte aproape de calificare, disputând două meciuri în prelungiri, dintre care unul l-am pierdut în dublă prelungire. Sunt extrem de mândră de echipă, deoarece nu am cedat ușor în fața niciunui adversar. Cred că am fi putut obține mai mult în acest sezon de EuroCup, însă sunt recunoscătoare pentru experiența acumulată. Sezonul nu s-a încheiat, iar eu sper că vom valorifica lecțiile învățate în această competiție. Vom continua să muncim, pentru că avem obiective importante atât în Cupa României, cât și în campionatul național.”
Carla Popescu a împărtășit experiențele sale și a vorbit și despre obiectivele din acest sezon: „A fost o experiență care cu siguranță ne-a ajutat, atât ca jucătoare tinere, cât și ca echipă tânără. Să participăm la astfel de competiții este un privilegiu. Echipa noastră are, fără îndoială, o tradiție în competițiile internaționale, obținând rezultate notabile de fiecare dată. Chiar dacă anul acesta nu am avansat din grupe și nu am ajuns în play-off-ul competiției, sunt sigură că am avut foarte multe de învățat. Acum trebuie să ne concentrăm pe campionatul intern, unde ne așteaptă Cupa României și campionatul. Cu siguranță avem așteptări mari și ne dorim să obținem rezultate cât mai bune, astfel încât să readucem echipa acolo unde îi este locul, adică în top.”
Antrenorul nostru principal, Zoran Mikes, și-a împărtășit gândurile: “Am avut oportunități la începutul fazei grupelor de a pune echipa într-o poziție favorabilă pentru a avansa, însă pierderea a două meciuri în deplasare, în prelungiri, ne-a diminuat considerabil șansele. Am început pregătirile puțin târziu, iar în acest an avem o echipă mai tânără și mai puțin experimentată. Startul în EuroCup a fost dificil pentru noi, iar ne-a luat ceva timp să realizăm că trebuie să jucăm mai bine încă de la început. A fost cu atât mai greu deoarece EuroCup a început înaintea Ligii Naționale, astfel că nu am avut meciuri competitive pentru a ne pregăti. Am jucat doar două partide amicale într-o perioadă scurtă de pregătire, iar lipsa de timp petrecut împreună ca echipă s-a resimțit în primele jocuri.Per ansamblu, obiectivul nostru a fost să fim un adversar puternic pentru toată lumea și să avem o șansă să avansăm în runda următoare. Cred că am jucat cu mândrie și am fost competitori redutabili pentru toate echipele întâlnite. Desigur, au existat momente în care am fi putut juca mai bine – am avut urcușuri și coborâșuri pe parcursul jocurilor.dar am acumulat lecții valoroase din această experiență. Pentru echipa noastră, este esențial să rămânem uniți, chiar și după înfrângeri, să învățăm din greșeli și să ne susținem reciproc. Dacă am învățat cu adevărat din această experiență, sunt încrezătoare că vom fi mai buni pentru restul sezonului. Am dat tot ce am avut mai bun și sunt mândră de această echipă, de fiecare jucătoare și de tot efortul depus.”
După aventura europeană, atenția echipei se îndreaptă către provocările interne. În acest weekend, pe 30 noiembrie și 1 decembrie, vor juca în Cupa României contra echipei Alexandria pentru a ajunge în Final 4.
The 2024–2025 EuroCup Women season has come to an end for our team .In the 23rd edition of Europe’s second-most prestigious club competition, our green-and-white squad competed in Group C. We faced tough opponents, including Serbia’s Crvena Zvezda, Spain’s IDK Euskotren, and Greece’s Proteas Voulas AEO.
Our journey began with an away game against Greece’s Proteas Voulas AEO. Despite a determined effort, we lost by six points after overtime. This was followed by a home defeat against the Spanish team, IDK Euskotren. In the third round, we battled Serbia’s Crvena Zvezda but suffered a narrow loss after double overtime.
Our first and only victory came on home ground against our Greek rivals. Despite our efforts in the final two group stage matches, we couldn’t secure another win. Ultimately, we finished third in Group C, with one victory and five defeats.
The performance of this season was analysed by the team captain, Lívia Gereben: “Although the number of games we won doesn’t reflect it, we were very close to advancing, as we played two overtime games—one of which we lost in double overtime. Overall, I am very proud of the team because we never gave up easily against any opponent. I believe we could have achieved even more this EuroCup season, but I am still very happy because we learned a lot. The season isn’t over, and I hope we can make good use of the experience gained in the EuroCup moving forward. We will keep pushing ahead, as we have clear goals in the Romanian Cup and the national championship.”
Carla Popescu shared her experiences and also talked about the goals for the season: “It was an experience that undoubtedly contributed to our growth, both as young players and as a developing team. Participating in competitions of this calibre is a privilege. Our team has a well-established tradition in international tournaments, consistently achieving commendable results. While we did not advance beyond the group stage or reach the playoffs this year, I am confident that the lessons we have learned are invaluable. Now, we must focus on the domestic league, where the Romanian Cup and the championship await us. We undoubtedly have high expectations and aim to achieve the best possible results, bringing the team back to where it belongs, at the top.”
Our head coach, Zoran Mikes, also shared his thoughts: “We had some chances at the beginning of the group stage to put our team in a position to advance, but we lost two away games in overtime, which significantly hurt our chances. We started preparations a little late, and we have a younger, less experienced team this year. The start of the EuroCup was challenging for us, and it took time to realize that we needed to play better from the beginning. It was especially difficult because the EuroCup started before the Romanian League, so we didn’t have competitive games to prepare. We only played two friendly matches during a short preparation period, and the lack of time playing together showed in those early games. Overall, our goal was to be a strong opponent for everyone and to have a chance to advance to the next round. I believe we played with pride and were tough competitors for all the teams we faced. Of course, there were moments when we could have played better—we had some ups and downs during the games—but we learned a lot from the experience. For this team, it’s very important to stay united, even after losses, to learn from mistakes, and to support each other as a group. If we’ve truly learned from this experience, I’m confident we’ll be better for the rest of the season. We gave our maximum effort, and I’m proud of the girls and the entire team.”
After the European adventure, the team’s focus is on domestic challenges. This weekend, on November 30 and December 1, they will play in the Romanian Cup against Alexandria for a spot in the Final 4.
